The VP, Portfolio Manager, C&I is responsible for the risk management of specific assigned lending relationships. Risk management of account(s) includes partnering with the Relationship Manager (RM) and client to ensure compliance of financial reporting, covenants, and accurate risk ratings in addition to renewals, modifications, and increases/new loans. Credit files are to be kept current while maintaining active communication with borrower to obtain all necessary information. May be the primary account manager for loan clients without a designated RM. This position is a unionized position through the Communication Workers of America.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Focuses daily activities on ensuring information and credit files of all assigned borrowers are current, performance testing is timely and defaults/risk rating changes are accurate.
  2. Works independently and/or collaboratively to underwrite credit requests and prepare financial analysis and credit memoranda for a variety of needs of the client in accordance with bank's credit policies.
  3. Verifies required documentation and summary information when submitting loan requests to Credit Administration and the Credit Committee.
  4. Maintains a record of all planned and completed portfolio management activities using established bank client management and internal communication systems.
  5. Maintains follow up with existing clients to ensure that the bank has timely and accurate financial information for purposes of loan monitoring and update of the bank's credit files.
  6. Develops credit related procedures and follows established procedures and processes within Beneficial State Bank to ensure the bank's overall compliance.
  7. Maintains clear understanding of loan administration and credit analysis.
  8. Develops and strengthens existing C&I relationships through frequently scheduled follow-up telephone calls, and personal meetings.
  9. Works closely with Credit Administration to ensure all assigned loan requests are processed in a timely manner; and keeps the loan applicant (client or prospect) duly informed throughout the loan application process.
  10. Attends and participates in staff meetings and reviews goals, objectives and results, obstacles and provides solutions.
  11. Attends all required community and business-related events and training sessions.
  12. Shares best practices and successes to improve service, processes, procedures and product offerings.
  13. Understands and abides by all banking regulations, regulatory compliance procedures, and the bank's credit policy in all banking activities.
  14. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations and internal company policies, including but not limited to BSA / Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending, Privacy, and Anti-Discrimination, to the extent each applies to current job responsibilities.
  15. Completes all online compliance training as assigned within specified due dates.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field from a four-year college and/or work experience combined.
  2. 8+ years credit analyst, underwriting, and portfolio management for C&I loans.
  3. 5+ years in a commercial lending group as an Underwriter and/or Portfolio Manager.
  4. Prior experience in credit analysis and/or preparation of credit memorandum for loan approvals.
  5. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office application.
  6. Experience with financial statement spreading software.
  7. Demonstrated customer service and relationship management experience with high organizational skill, self-initiative, and timely responses to client opportunities and requests.
  8. Demonstrated experience maintaining and/or establishing a business banking loan portfolio and captured business deposits preferred.
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues, clients, prospects, and community members.
  10. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  11. Demonstrated self-motivation and positive energy to work productively, positively, and professionally with colleagues.
