The City of Central Point is hiring a Customer Service Technician to join our Water Division. The Customer Service Technician is responsible for locating City utilities, repairing/replacement of water meters, and sampling water for quality testing.

Full-Time | Customer Service Technician - Water Division | City of Central Point

Salary: $4,155 - $5,569 month ($23.97 - $32.13 hourly DOE)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Response Time:

  • Must live within a 45-minute response time of 235 S. Haskell St. within 180 days of hire.
  • Reliable cell phone reception required for emergency callbacks.
Experience & Education:
  • High School diploma (or equivalent) with basic math, reading and writing skills at a 12th grade level; and,
  • At least 2 years of related experience in public works, general construction, and/or facility maintenance or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience determined to ensure the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work.
Driver's License & Certifications:
  • Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable record at hire. Obtain unrestricted CDL "A" with endorsements within ten (10) months of hire (City paid training).
  • Current Oregon Water Distribution Level I certification required at hire.
  • Must obtain the following within designated timeframes from date of hire:
    • CPR/First Aid (6 months).
    • Cross Connection Specialist certification (6 months).
    • Flagger certification (10 months).
Preferred/Special:
  • Current Oregon Water Distribution Level II certification.
  • Backflow Tester certification.
  • Any of the required certifications or licenses are preferred at hire.
Salary and benefits are negotiated and codified in a collective bargaining agreement, and are represented by Teamsters Local 223. See the Human Resources area of the City of Central Point website for further details about the current bargaining agreement.

BENEFITS PACKAGE:

Medical/Dental/Vision: Regence $150 individual/$450 family deductible plan. Employee pays 10% of the total premium (The employee portion for 2025 is $182.12 per month).

Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) City paid Contribution: $145/month.

Retirement: Oregon PERS fully paid by the City.

Paid Time Off: 14 paid holidays, vacation starting at 80 hours/year and 96 hours of sick leave.
