Seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer with deep expertise in geotechnical aspects of dam safety evaluations and design. This individual will serve as a key leader within our Dam Safety practice, contributing to both technical project delivery and the growth of our services.
The ideal candidate will be approved, or qualified for approval, as a FERC Part 12 Independent Consultant, with experience conducting risk-based analyses for dam safety inspections. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated engineer to apply their knowledge to a diverse portfolio of water resource and renewable energy projects.
While remote work is an option, onboarding and periodic in-office presence are required. The role also involves travel to project sites, primarily in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Responsibilities
**Lead, oversee, and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams for FERC- and state-regulated projects.
**Perform dam safety evaluations and design, including FERC Part 12 inspections.
**Conduct earthen embankment design and geotechnical evaluations for dams and related civil works projects.
**Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring and testing programs, and analyze results.
**Prepare and review construction sequencing, design plans, specifications, and permit applications.
**Lead technical discussions with regulators, clients, and the public.
**Write and review technical reports, ensuring high standards of clarity and accuracy.
**Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
**Contribute to business development through proposal writing, cost estimating, and project scheduling.
Qualifications
**Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's preferred).
**Licensed Professional Engineer, with ability to maintain registration in multiple northeastern states.
**Approved or immediately qualified to serve as a FERC Part 12 Independent Consultant.
**Strong background in dam safety evaluations, geotechnical engineering, and risk-based analysis.
**Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
**Project management and client interaction.
**Geotechnical engineering for dams and water-retaining structures.
**Development and execution of geotechnical investigation, testing, and monitoring programs.
**Evaluation of embankment earthquake response.
**Proposal development and staff mentoring.
**Familiarity with federal and state dam safety standards/guidelines.
